I want to document this so I don't forget it. I have been worried about Caleb starting school. As I said in my previous post, I have been praying for him to have at least one good buddy in his class and for him to get the perfect teacher for him. I was very anxious about Open House.
#1 - Before we even left home I got a text from Rebecca Hoskins saying "You are a lucky girl. Caleb and Charlie both got Mrs. Shuford". Charlie is the only Kindergarten we know and he is one of Caleb's buddies from church. What are the odds that they would be in the same class? I'd say that is an answer to prayer. Not only does Caleb have a buddy but I know Charlie's mom and can text her with questions. Her two older children both had Mrs. Shuford in Kindergarten so she is a pro!
#2 - Rebecca kept telling me to request Mrs. Shuford because Lilly had her last year and learned so much. There were several new teachers this year so I decided not to request anyone but really just pray about who would be best for Caleb. And we got Mrs. Shuford! Rebecca says she is the best because they learn so much. She has warned me we might have a rough start because she is very strict but that it will be worth it in the end!
#3 - Caleb has been nervous about school and starts to tear up whenever we talk about school. One of the first things he noticed in his new classroom was a treasure chest. Now for anyone who knows Caleb, you know he loves treasures. He asked his teacher what was in the treasure chest and she responded "treasures". He asked if he could see the treasures and she said he could next week when he comes back. So now Caleb is excited about going back to see the treasures in his class. Now when I ask him about school, he doesn't start to cry but instead gets an excited look on his face and talks about the treasures he is going to get at his new school.
I am sure there will still be a few tears shed on his first day but those answered prayers sure make a mama feel good! Praying his first day and first year at his new school is wonderful!
