The second two character traits I have been praying for Caleb and Ella are teachability and forgiveness.
#3 - Teachability
Teachability is allowing ourselves to be instructed by the Lord. It is having a mind that seeks truth, ears that are sensitive and a willingness to hear knowledge.
Dear God, look lovingly upon Caleb and Ella. Teach them to do Your will and allow Your Spirit to guide their paths. I pray that Caleb and Ella's hope is in You each and every day of their lives. May they yield to your instruction. Please protect Caleb and Ella from a stubborn or rebellious spirit and give them a teachable heart.. I pray they soak up Your truth and not the ways of the world. God only you know what circumstances they may find themselves in, I pray you being to prepare their hearts to be faithful to you no matter what. I pray that Caleb and Ella are quick to accept criticism and learn to grow from it at an early age.
"Then they would put their trust in God and keep his commands...they would not be like their forefathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him" Psalm 78:7-8
"The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, the ears of the wise seek it out" Proverbs 18:15
"My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them" Proverbs 1:10
#4 - Forgiveness
Forgiveness is responding to evil by doing good. Forgiveness is the gift we receive in order to forgive others.
Dear God, May Caleb and Ella understand that they have forgiveness because of Your grace. Help Caleb and Ella not be hesitant in coming to You in confession and repentance. Give Caleb and Ella a forgiving spirit and help them have the strength to give up any resentment. Guard Caleb and Ella from being critical and judgmental of others. I pray that Caleb and Ella will learn not to repay evil with evil. May Caleb and Ella be willing to love others and forgive others in spite of their wrongdoing. I pray Caleb and Ella will not be ones that hold grudges but will quickly and joyfully forgive others.
"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody" Romans 12:17
"Do no repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing" I Peter 3:9
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven." Luke 6:37
