We originally had reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch on Thursday but I just wasn't excited about it SO in the middle of the night while planning an idea hit me - what if we could do a character breakfast on Friday before we left and we could get on the road earlier. That would mean that we would not waste time at a big meal on Thursday and could get more done in the parks, have another character breakfast (which the kids LOVED), that would save us from having to add a day in the park to our tickets, we could get on the road earlier and save money on the hotel room and we could wake up in our own beds on Saturday and have all day to regroup.
So I ran it by the crew and everyone approved even though Kent joked that he didn't know why I asked cause I was doing the planning - ha!
On the bus by 7:00 to get to the breakfast by 8:00 - we didn't have park tickets that day but we could still go to a character breakfast. We took the bus to Magic Kingdom and then hopped on the monorail (Owen had seen it and asked to ride, its not as crowded as the bus, and its high up so you have a good view of the parks while you ride) to the Grand Floridian. We loved having character breakfasts at hotels cause we could see the fancy hotels that we couldn't afford. Just a good idea to do it first thing or at the end of the day so you aren't wasting time. If you want to do a table service lunch, I suggest you eat one in the park.
Waiting for our table and checking out Cinderella's stuff (they have quite a bit because Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner is held at the same place)
Made out of chocolate
Disney and details = simly amaing!
We got to see Alice in Wonderland first and Alice asked "Are you at a tea party?"
She was cute even though its not my favorite movie
Mary Poppins came by and was VERY formal and truly stayed in character. Almost came across as rude but just how Mary Poppins is.
Then we got to see Tigger and he was bouncing around
Group picture with Tigger cause Mammy loves Tigger and B wasn't so sure!
Then came the Mad hatter that is my new favorite character - Owen said "Look a magician - he didn't know who he was but was happy to see him."
He asked Ella if she liked his ride - Mad Hatter's Tea Party (tea cups) - Ella told him she used to but now that she was bigger she liked Test Track, Everest, Soarin and Flight of Passage.
He said why would you like Test Track because it's testy and Everest has a monster. She just giggled and thought it was so funny!
Ella's new fav
We had to try the famous "Strawberry Soup" - it was good, kind of like a runny yogurt and really good when you added granola.
Last stop - meeting Pooh
Leaving the Grand Floridian and taking a picture on the steps
A few more funny things I want to remember
#1 - Kent has never been a worrier but the older he gets, the more he gets like dad and is paranoid especially about his kids. We would often spilt up different ways at different times so everyone could do what they wanted to do and someone was with B if she couldn't ride. EVERY time someone besides him took one of his kids he would say "OK - (whoever was taking them) -Keep them safe" and we would always kind of laugh and say OK. So the joke became to each other "Ok - Keep em safe"
#2 - Mom is known for falling and almost every trip she goes on - she falls (just like my grandma). But guess what? She didn't fall this time but she did crack her head. There are these bone tunnel things the kids could crawl thru and they would often want to run thru it really quickly on the way to and from the room. Well one night someone (one of the kids) was pushing Brooklynn in the stroller and went running thru the bone tunnel and Mom was worried about her so she took off after them. Well apparently she didn't duck low enough and cracked her head on the bone tunnel. She came out rubbing her head and saying "Ohhh" but at least she didn't fall.
#3 - I didn't sleep a lot at Disney - too many things to research and plan so I had the silly giggles. One morning we were walking to the elevator and mom was pushing Brooklynn and totally cut me off and I kind of tripped/fell into the elevator. Mom was like "Oh Maggie, I am so sorry". I just busted out laughing and could.not stop due to having the silly giggles from lack of sleep!
We were back at the hotel around 11:00 on Friday morning and we stopped by to cash out all our dining credits and get some snacks to take home our friends and Ella loves the birds from Nemo. She will say "Mine, mine, mine" just like they do and says it is her special talent. Love this sweet girl so much - she would also get Moms phone during dinner and text me that she loved me. Wish I could just bottle her up at 6!
Mammy surprised each grandkid with a little something from the gift shop (even though we tried to tell her not to buy them anything - the trip was enough). Caleb got a Mickey Hot Wheel type car, a princess pen for Ella, Owen got some more bubbles for his BBP bubble maker, and Brooklynn got cute cup. Mammy really spoils these kids!
We headed out around 12:15 and Ella and Owen were especially sad that we had to leave! It was really a wonderful vacation where we all got along well (especially considering how much time we spent together) and how well the kids were (considering all we drug them around with little sleep).
So thankful to have the wonderful memories of Raynors Take Disney 2018! So remember how I said I thought this would be our last trip - well now the Disney bug has bit me and I hope to go back - me and mom say Disney Cruise 2021! We shall see - have 3 years to save up!
IF you are still reading at this point bless you, I'll do another post in the next few days with all our pictures from the Memory Maker package. If you aren't tired of our Disney pics yet, check back!
Let’s not forget that Kent asked if I was okay since March 3 is our wedding anniversary. He said, “Well you can still see Dad in my looks and Maggie’s ways.” A lot of truth in that - although I see more and more of John’s ways in Kent, i.e. “keep ‘em safe”. ❤️
